1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
Device identifier: On first launch, the App generates a random identifier locally on your device (the “device identifier”) to distinguish app installations and to correlate de-identified analytics and diagnostics data. This identifier does not read or use IMEI, device serial number, MAC address, IDFA, OAID or other permanent device or advertising identifiers, is not linked to your real identity, and is not used for cross-app tracking; it is regenerated if you reinstall the App.
Analytics and diagnostics: After you accept this Policy, to understand feature usage, locate and fix faults, and improve stability and experience, we collect a session identifier, device platform and model class, operating system version, system language, app version and build number, screen name, feature events, error type and stack-trace summary, operation duration and result status, associated with the device identifier.
Microphone: When you use the tuner, the App accesses the microphone to capture sound solely to analyze pitch locally on your device in real time. We do not upload, store or share your recordings or audio.
Camera: When you use “Capture to import” to photograph a score, the App accesses the camera to take a photo, used solely to generate a score image stored locally on your device. We do not upload, store or share the photos you take.
Locally stored information: The scores, images, PDFs, notes, titles, styles and difficulty labels you import, together with app settings, selected instrument, metronome and tuner configuration, practice records, recent usage, score indexes and thumbnail caches, are stored only on your device by default.
2. Information We Do Not Collect or Upload
We do not upload your score images and PDF content, recordings or audio, note text, or full local file paths, and we do not collect your phone number, email address or third-party account identifiers.
The App does not collect precise location, does not collect biometric or other sensitive personal information, does not perform advertising tracking, and does not sell your personal information.
3. Device Permissions
Microphone: requested only when you use the tuner, for local pitch detection. If denied, the tuner cannot work properly.
Camera: requested only when you use “Capture to import” to photograph a score. If denied, you can still import from your photo library or files.
File / media access: when importing scores, the App reads the images or PDFs you actively select through the operating system’s file or document picker. On iOS and Android this is handled by the system and generally does not require you to separately grant photo-library or storage permissions.
You can review, manage or revoke granted permissions in system settings at any time. Revoking a permission may disable related features but will not affect other features that do not require it.
4. Third-Party Services and Entrusted Processing
To provide analytics and diagnostics, we use the following third-party services as entrusted processors. We require them to process data only for the purposes described in this Policy and to adopt appropriate safeguards:
PostHog (product analytics) — provider PostHog, Inc.; processes the device identifier, session identifier, device and system information, app version, and screen and feature events; privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy .
Sentry (crash and error diagnostics, for regions outside mainland China) — provider Functional Software, Inc.; processes the device identifier, error type and stack-trace summary, device and system information, and app version; privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/ .
GlitchTip (crash and error diagnostics, for mainland China) — an open-source diagnostics service we self-host on servers within China; the data is processed directly by us.
On the HarmonyOS version, the above analytics and diagnostics data is relayed through our servers to the services named above.
5. Where Information Is Stored and Cross-Border Transfer
Depending on the app version you use and your region, analytics and diagnostics data is transferred to the corresponding servers: the mainland China version transfers and stores such data only on our servers located within China (including self-hosted PostHog and GlitchTip), and does not provide it outside mainland China; for versions in other countries or regions, the corresponding data is processed by PostHog and Sentry in their respective service regions.
Information stored locally on your device always remains on your device and is not uploaded together with the above analytics and diagnostics.
6. Retention Period
Analytics and diagnostics data we upload is retained for 30 days from the date of receipt; after that period we delete or anonymize it, except where laws or regulations require otherwise.
Information stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the relevant content or uninstall the App.
7. How We Protect Information
We adopt technical and organizational measures consistent with industry practice to protect your information, including data minimization, permission-on-use, local processing first, and encryption of data in transit (HTTPS).
Please understand that the internet is not an absolutely secure environment and no security measure can guarantee absolute security. Please keep your device secure and back up important score files yourself.
8. Sharing, Transfer and Disclosure
Except for the entrusted processing described in Section 4, with your prior consent, as required by laws, regulators or judicial authorities, or as necessary to protect the lawful rights of you, the public, us or our partners, we do not share your personal information with third parties and do not proactively disclose it.
If a merger, division, acquisition or asset transfer involves the transfer of personal information, we will require the new holder to remain bound by this Policy or obtain your consent again.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, copy, correct, supplement and delete your personal information, to withdraw consent you previously gave, and to lodge a complaint regarding our processing of personal information.
You can manage or revoke permissions in system settings, and manage or delete locally stored scores, practice records and settings within the App; to exercise the above rights with respect to uploaded analytics and diagnostics, please contact us using the methods in “Contact Us”.
If you believe our processing of personal information harms your lawful rights, you may also complain to the relevant regulator. We will respond to your reasonable requests within the period required by law.
10. Children and Minors
Minors should use the App with the consent and guidance of a guardian. If you are a guardian and believe a minor has provided personal information to us without your consent, please contact us and we will handle it in accordance with law.
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If an update materially changes the purpose, method, type or recipients of personal information processing, we will notify you by reasonable means such as in-app notices and, where necessary, obtain your consent again.
